KnowledgeDoor is dedicated to providing students and professionals with superior educational resources. We invite you to explore our easy-to-use conversion tools and our extensive library of units and constants.

Unit Conversion — From Single Units to Complex Expressions

Convert to New Units

Convert a single unit or a mathematical expression to the new units that you specify. This tool recognizes all units and constants in our library as well as abbreviations and metric power prefixes. Ex: 8 ft + 7.62 cm = 2.75 yards

Convert to Metric Units

Unsure of which metric units to use? Convert a single unit or a mathematical expression to the metric units we suggest. (Metric is also called the International System of Units or SI units). Ex: 70 miles/hour = 112.65430531 kilometers/hour

Dimensional Analysis

Verify that unit dimensions match. Trying to add, subtract, or equate expressions with inconsistent units usually indicates an error in a problem solution.

Library of Units and Constants — A Wealth of Information

Name Index

Organizes units and constants alphabetically by their names. Measured constants are drawn from NIST.

Quantity Index

Organizes units and constants by the physical quantities they measure (such as mass, length, and time).

Group Index

Organizes units into groups based on similarity (such as the different variations of a gallon or mile).

Base Conversion (Radix Conversion) — From Integers to Repeating Fractional Numbers

Convert an Integer

Convert integers in binary, hex, octal, decimal, and other bases. Ex: (623119)10 = (10011000001000001111)2

Convert a Number with a Fractional Part

Convert a number with integer and fractional parts. Rational arithmetic is used so that the base conversion result is exact even when the fractional part is repeating or has both non-repeating and repeating portions.

Convert a Ratio of Integers

Convert a number expressed as the ratio of two integers. This enables the conversion of any rational number without first calculating its possibly repeating fractional digits. Ex: (256)7 / (145)7 = (1.695121)10
